Abstract: Fukaya category is a central object in the study of symplectic topology. We will first review its idea, definition, and some classical applications. We then explain the triangulated structure underlying this category. Lying in the core of this story is a correspondence between a geometric operation called the Lagranian surgery, which corresponds to the algebraic operation of taking mapping cones in the Fukaya category. This was first established by Leonid Polterovich.
We explain an extension of this story, as well as two applications. This is partly a joint work in progress with Cheuk-Yu Mak and Shuo Zhang.
