Abstract: The Saint-Venant equations, also known as the shallow water equations, provide a fundamental model for free-surface flows and have broad applications in control theory. While control of the sptially one-dimensional system are relatively well understood, the more realistic sptially two-dimensional case remains much more challenging. This talk presents recent developments in boundary stabilization and the turnpike phenomenon for optimal boundary control of the two-dimensional Saint-Venant equations.
