Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective variety defined over a number field. Supposing that $X$ has torsion-free geometric Picard group, we prove that the unramified Brauer group of its symmetric product is essentially isomorphic to the Brauer group of $X$. We apply this to the study of the Hasse principle for rational points and zero-cycles on $X$. This is a joint work with Xingyu Liu and Hui Zhang.
