Abstract: We discuss the local-global principle of representation of integral binary quadratic forms by quaternary quadratic forms. Our approach is ergodic theoretic, and measure rigidity theorems in homogeneous dynamics play a key role. The talk is based on a joint work in progress with Wooyeon Kim and Andreas Wieser.
