Abstract: We consider the evolution of a dilute charged particle system, modelled by the homogeneous Landau equation, with a focus on the monotonicity of Fisher information. This functional, introduced into kinetic equations by McKean, has since been proven monotone along Landau and Boltzmann flows by Guillen-Silvestre and Imbert-Silvestre-Villani, through a refinement of the Bakry-Émery geometric criterion on the real projective space. Extending this perspective, we will discuss two directions: multi-species systems, where natural symmetries are broken, and the Fermi-Dirac quantum variant, where the Pauli exclusion principle reshapes the entropy and the associated Fisher information.
