Abstract: Suppose we have a hypersurface in the complex affine spaces defined by a polynomial. In this talk, I will explain how to understand singularities of the hypersurface algebraically by using D-modules. I will also discuss how the algebraic information can be related to topological and arithmetic information of the hypersurface. Then, I will explain how to extend this to a finite family of hypersurfaces.
