Abstract: After introducing the notion of a sheaf on a category with a Grothendieck topology, I will give examples of sheaves and presheaves which do not satisfy the sheaf conditions. Then I will sketch the proof of a theorem of Grothendieck: a representable functor on the category of schemes with Zariski/étale/flat topology is a sheaf.
